i like your messy hair, i like the clothes you wear
[ A week passes with two spirits and one human as residents of the enormous Workshop, dining with North whenever he appears out of his office but generally doing their own thing in the meantime. Jack flies off now and again to spread snow and wintry cheer, tactfully letting Dave and Hiccup some time to get to know each other now that both of them are rubbing along better than could have been hoped. He hasn't seen much of either of them separately, so Hiccup wandering the Workshop corridors far below Jack (where he sits atop the Globe playing with a puzzlebox) in the new clothes the winter spirit procured for him from a high street store a couple of days ago, is definitely a head-turner.
Oh no, he's hot. Hotter.
Hiccup looks not entirely unlike the way he does in his flight-suit, only ... casual, cut and shaped into modern-day clothing in a way that has Jack staring (fitted brown leather jacket, bottle-green leather pants with laces up the sides so they can be adjusted to those skinny legs), puzzlebox dropped forgotten atop the North Pole as he sweeps down to land in front of him. He drapes his staff over a shoulder as he hops onto the carpet, a hand stuffing inside his hoodie pocket as he ducks his head with a greeting smile. ]
So where've you been all morning, lazybones? It's almost noon.

[He resists the urge to say but you just gestured to all of me, finding himself with a foreign finger hooked into his belt. Hiccup's chest raises sharply with the small hitch of breath that he exerts, wanting to reach out and return the touch but not wanting to cross any boundaries that might still be up.]
Wouldn't want you to get hit with anything after all...
no subject
[ Jack's playfulness turns confused as he tries to make sense of that, figuring nothing out that can't be taken literally. Why would Hiccup hit him while working? He's not that clumsy ...
Quizzically, he lets his touch slide free and back to his staff, giving a shrug as he steps past him. Weird. ]
Uh, alright then.
no subject
Uh, I'm still learning how to use these kinds of tools. I accidentally hit an elf in the eye with a nail.
[A sheepish grin.]
no subject
C'mon, Master Craftsman, I'll show you where I want that lock.
no subject
I just said something stupid again, didn't I?
no subject
Passive-aggressively threatening to hit me was a nice touch, sure.
no subject
[Hiccup rolls his eyes and huffs, scratching the back of his neck as he followed Jack to his room.]
Nice to see you too.

I don't sound like that, and I only warned you because I didn't want the same thing happening to you that happened to the elf.
[Hiccup lets a hand rest on his tool belt, the other one coming up to rub at his neck. He felt like saying something like 'sorry for caring', but Jack would probably take that the wrong way with the way this is going.]
no subject
[ Snorting, he smirks and shakes his head. With an idle, restless twirl of his staff, he gestures above to the corridors they're heading toward, Jack's room being on the top floor for obvious reasons. ]
Wanna race?
no subject
If you're not going to cheat by flying or any of that fancy jumping you do, then sure.
no subject
[ Laughing, Jack stirs a breeze in the Workshop that rushes down to the actual workbenches below, blowing over a pile of sketches that the yetis try to catch. And elf sees what happens and is promptly frozen solid, knocked over with a tap from his staff. No witnesses. ]
no subject
[Waving the peg leg around in the air as Jack causes mischief, rolling his eyes a little. He should probably reprimand his husband for that but he can't deny Jack's fun loving nature. Actually it's nice to see him in a good mood.]
no subject
[ Chortling, he idly freezes a few more elves that try and rush to their friend's aid, without looking back or down, merely tapping the ground as they skitter past his feet. Rolling his eyes, Jack lowers himself to 'speak' to Hiccup's missing foot. ]
I realize we don't know where you are, but I'd like to convey to you my deepest sympathies, sir. Please forgive me.
no subject
[He crosses his arms and huffs, using the edge of his prophetic to tip Jack's chin before pulling it away, setting it down before he lost his balance, paying no attention to the elves getting iced.]
Are you done?
no subject
[ Waving the foot away, he soars backwards and ahead a few meters. Huffing to copy Hiccup, he raises his voice with a waggle of his head, shoulders jangling. ]
'Are you done?'

[ Cackling, Jack whisks around him as quick as a fly, darting to keep in front of Hiccup as he showers on him a mix of smiles and pouts. Someone's in a rare mood after playing with kids for two days straight, preferring to soar instead of walk. ]
Wouldn't you feel better if Jack kissed it better? Oh, but you'd have to catch him first and we all know your handicap is too much of a challenge, don't even try, it's okay. We all understand, pretty boy. You keep batting those big green eyes and maybe someone will come along to help.
[ Buzz, buzz, buzz. ]
no subject
I'm not giving you the silent treatment, I just...this is the first time I've seen you for a couple of days. [Hiccup draws his brow together, looking at Jack.] Did I do something wrong? Is that why you're treating me like a child? I know I missed some cues back there, I'm not stupid.
no subject
[ Jack's laughter peters out as he drops reluctantly to a bannister, crouching there twiddling his staff. Any residual buoyancy he feels from being off on his travels, indulging himself, is what keeps his tone light and conversational despite Hiccup's moodiness. ]
I'm not treating you like anything, I'm ... just goofing around. [ Breathing out a chuckle, he rubs the back of his neck. ] Don't take things so seriously all the time.
no subject
How about we race later? Outside where there's more room in the skies? I bet Toothless and I together could beat you.
no subject
[ Giving a one-shouldered shrug, he keeps a cap on his good humor for the sake of treating Hiccup like an adult and flies overhead out of sight, up into his room. Like hell is he prone to stay around after being chastised, and this way he can float outside the open window by the time Hiccup makes it in. ]
no subject
A lock for his dumbassness, that's what.
The dragon prince sighs inwardly, knocking on the door before opening it, feeling like he should at least be polite.]
no subject
Why're you knocking? You know I just came in here. [ Smiling to himself outside, he raps the windowframes with his staff. ] Here's the problem, doctor.
no subject
[It's not his room. It's not their room. He has no right to intrude on Jack's personal space right now. Hiccup rubs the back of his neck, entering and crossing the room to the window and leaning out it, fiddling with the lock already there, playing along.]
Well here's your problem, sir, there's no lock on the outside.
