[ A week passes with two spirits and one human as residents of the enormous Workshop, dining with North whenever he appears out of his office but generally doing their own thing in the meantime. Jack flies off now and again to spread snow and wintry cheer, tactfully letting Dave and Hiccup some time to get to know each other now that both of them are rubbing along better than could have been hoped. He hasn't seen much of either of them separately, so Hiccup wandering the Workshop corridors far below Jack (where he sits atop the Globe playing with a puzzlebox) in the new clothes the winter spirit procured for him from a high street store a couple of days ago, is definitely a head-turner.

Oh no, he's hot. Hotter.

Hiccup looks not entirely unlike the way he does in his flight-suit, only ... casual, cut and shaped into modern-day clothing in a way that has Jack staring (fitted brown leather jacket, bottle-green leather pants with laces up the sides so they can be adjusted to those skinny legs), puzzlebox dropped forgotten atop the North Pole as he sweeps down to land in front of him. He drapes his staff over a shoulder as he hops onto the carpet, a hand stuffing inside his hoodie pocket as he ducks his head with a greeting smile. ]

So where've you been all morning, lazybones? It's almost noon.

[Hiccup smacks his face with his palm, sighing heavily into it. Yep, he screwed up. He recognized the body language when Jack left him there. With a small rub of the bridge between his nose, he takes the stairs two at a time in order to be able to get to the landing leading to Jack's room, searching around in his tool belt for the type of lock he thinks he'll need.

A lock for his dumbassness, that's what.

The dragon prince sighs inwardly, knocking on the door before opening it, feeling like he should at least be polite.]

[ Avoidance is still something Jack excels at, calling Hiccup through to deal with his window. ]

Why're you knocking? You know I just came in here. [ Smiling to himself outside, he raps the windowframes with his staff. ] Here's the problem, doctor.

I just knocked because...well, because.

[It's not his room. It's not their room. He has no right to intrude on Jack's personal space right now. Hiccup rubs the back of his neck, entering and crossing the room to the window and leaning out it, fiddling with the lock already there, playing along.]

Well here's your problem, sir, there's no lock on the outside.

[icy]

[ After being invited in? You dingus. Jack snaps his fingers. ]

I knew it! So, what do we do? How does this work? Do you need a ladder to get up here or a dragon?

[dragonconqueror]

[He's like a vampire that way. Hiccup examines the lock, then pulls one out of his tool belt that looks similar.]

I'm going to have to replace the one inside too. I can work from in here, but I'll have to lean outside for the other part.

[icy]

[ Swinging his staff under his arms, he slouches on the breeze like anyone else would float on water, hair ruffling. A half-naked husband doing Actual Things is a nice view, it has to be said (and some of those scales are so black that they shine a different color, holding Jack's focus). Hmm. ]

I guess I'll just have to keep you company then, out of the goodness of my heart.

[dragonconqueror]

[Said half naked husband doesn't feel the chill of the air coming in from the outside as he pulls a screwdriver from his belt, beginning to undo the lock already in place there.]

I wouldn't want to keep you around. This is boring work, but company would be nice I guess.

How long have you been walking around like that?

[ He has his priorities. ]

A few hours.

[Hiccup knows these priorities all too well. He leans over into the outside, ass up in the air in his new leather pants.]

It got warm down in the engine room.

[icy]

[ This fucking tease. Don't mind if the breeze lifts Jack up to get a better eyeful of that curvy backside, oops. Only a meter or so where he floats in front of the window. ]

Did it? Huh. Not having a shower or anything? You stink of reindeer, just saying. Helping.

Well you used to like the smell of dragon sulphur on me. I figured Eau de Reindeer wouldn't bother you too much.

[He knows exactly what Jack's doing and it only encourages him to lift his butt higher than he needs it, a crowbar wrenching the rest of the current lock off for him once he's done with the screws.]

I didn't really have the choice, before. Sulphur reeks.

[ Rapping his fingers on his staff as he idly watches Hiccup put on a show. ]

Did you grow a few more scales?

[dragonconqueror]

Maybe? I don't keep count, they just kind of grow where they want.

[Hiccup waves a hand to elaborate before he fixes the new lock in place, then turns onto his back, slipping a little further out the window to start fixing a latch into place on the outside of it.]

Must be something to do with the changes.

[icy]

Oh, hey, I can control lightning now! What about you, what sorta changes have you gained?

[ He flies up to the rooftop above the window, peering down where he sits. Yes, that ass is very fine. ]

Uh, well, the scales for one. You already know about the changes to my dick. I can control my body temperature now...

[Said oh so very casually as if having a normal conversation what.]

We were trying to figure out if I can breath fire or not the other day.

[icy]

[ Chuckling as he hears dick, a shaken head is all Hiccup gets. The body-temperature control is something he can relate to, having gotten better at it himself so the children can hug him without shivering. ]

Not going to burn me, are you?

Only if you're into that kind of thing. And I'm done. Give it a try.

[He grins cheekily and raises an eyebrow before considering his work done. Hiccup places his tools back into his tool belt and slithers back into the room, closing the window with him.]

[icy]

[ Mollified by the forthright answer, he glides down to lock the latch into place from the outside, giving the windows a shove. Flicking it open again, Jack sweeps inside to perch on the window-ledge, gripping it with a hand as his other remains outside with his staff. ]

You're handy to have around, anyone here told you that?

I might have heard it once or twice.

[Hiccup tries not to sound smug as he says that, though he does look pretty pleased with his work. He closes the distance between them, placing his hands on either side of Jack and leaning up.]

Do I get a kiss as a thank you?

[icy]

[ Drawing up from his slouch as Hiccup slides in, a smile greets him and he nods. ]

You can get a kiss whenever you want.

[ His free hand slides up a bare arm as he closes the distance, leaning in as he perches with his knees splayed either side of Hiccup's chest. His husband's captured lips are soft and warm, the antithesis to his own, and Jack lets the sensations tingling through his cold skin start to warm him up there.

A sigh leaves him through his nose, the nails on Hiccup's shoulder curling slightly to draw him closer. ]

[The kiss is a sweet one, tender and warm despite the cold, chipped lips pressed to his own. But that's what he likes about Jack, the contrast he brings to his own stifling temperatures, the cold he enjoyed even as a boy who claimed he hated winter. He hum breathlessly into the kiss, drawing himself in even without the encouraging nails on his shoulder.

One of Hiccup's arms circle around Jack's waist, snaking and tugging him as close as he can manage without losing his footing. Lightly, he flicks his tongue along his husband's bottom lip, nipping it softly.]

[ Huffing quiet laughter into the kiss, he drapes his free arm over a shoulder to knead the shifting muscles down the middle of a naked spine, hugging him as close as Hiccup squashes in. Jack gives him a squeeze around the waist with his bent knees when a tongue slides over, his own pressing back as he opens his mouth a little wider in invitation.

Scales catch under his nails near Hiccup's nape, scratched lightly. So sleek and smooth, they're an interesting counterpoint to all that warm, freckled skin. ]

[His scales look Night Fury in design, like the speckled disks he found in the cove when he first went to investigate Toothless so long ago. Some of them have patterns, dark blue or grey molding into black. He makes a small noise when he feels Jack's nails scratch the ones at the back of his neck, slipping his tongue in at the invitation.

They'd had a few kisses like this back then. Jack hanging through his bedroom window, Hiccup just out of sight so that passing villagers couldn't see. The hand around Jack's waist travels up to bury fingers into white hair, tugging on it gently.]

[icy]

[ That small noise is what he lives for, cupping the back of a thick head of hair as the kiss deepens into a languid play of tongues, one indistinguishable from the other. Jack strokes under Hiccup's, finding his own rhythm to subtly mirror the way they moved together in their old nest, sucking on him with a groan. Remember this ... ?

The tug to his hair changes the angle and gives up the authority of it to Hiccup for a moment as Jack winces; not in pain, just distracted as he swallows. Nose to nose, he lets his weight rest against a bare chest and arches his hoodie in against him. ]

[He remembers. He remembers and he feels his heart flutter when he realizes Jack does too, swallowing the groan into his mouth as he grazed his along Jack's. His hand leaves hair and comes to cup a cheek as he slows the pace down, pulling his head back but leaning into the brush of material against his sensitive chest. Hiccup runs his thumb over the height of his husband's cheek, pecking him on the lips as he leans in, pressing their foreheads together.]
