I don't wanna wait for our lives to be over (kingdom au for
2cool4guardian)
[The wedding was possibly the biggest celebration in the capitol since the king's coming of age, and for reason. The media had been in a 'will they, won't they' frenzy since King Hiccup proposed to his assistant and lover Jackson Overland Frost, but despite some protests from the older, more experienced Lords (or perhaps in retaliation), the wedding went off without a hitch. The actual wedding itself had been a private ceremony, only close friends and family, but the reception was huge.
The ballroom was filled with younger representatives of the lord's families, people they were one friendly terms with and who supported them. The newly wed couple left for a private island off the coast of the capitol late in the night, under the cover of darkness to avoid being photographed by anyone other than Hiccup's PR team, who would make sure that photographs and videos of the wedding would reach the network by morning under their own terms.
The door to the large house nestled near the cliffside of the island overlooking the water was opened, Hiccup nudging it so with his shoulder since his arms were full of his newly wed husband.]
And here we are. Home sweet home for a whole month.

He promised he would do something, and he intended to keep that promise.
It was hard as fuck to choose what to make - after all, what did you give to the man that has everything? Thankfully some reading about Hiccup's culture and an extra tip or two from North helped Jack not to go crazy over it. Carving behind the king's back added an extra challenge, but saying he needed some time with his not!dad did the trick.
The private ceremony was beautiful, a dream really, but for Jack, the real thing will forever be their little sacred ritual before it. Hiccup's song and acceptance of his gift were more important that some papers they signed.
And now, ready to start their honeymoon, there are not enough words to describe how incredibly happy Jack is. So much in fact that he doesn't even protest when Hiccup picks him up to enter the house, only laughs - though he does jump off those arms when they're finally inside. He needs that leg healthy so they can have lots of fun today.]
Only a month? Mmmh, that can't be right. [Jack throws his arms around Hiccup's neck, leaning in to rub their noses together.] That's too little. We need some proper celebration time, like... dunno, a decade or two.
no subject
[They'd be lucky if nobody tried to usurp them in a month, let alone a decade or two. Hiccup made no protests when Jack jumped out of his arms, despite the small noise that left him when he did, but he wraps his arms around his husband's waist and returned the Eskimo kiss. Husband. It was hard to believe they were finally married. All the trouble they went through just to keep it happening was in the back of his mind as he gazed down lovingly at his husband - his new prince, he noted to himself, smirking a little at the tiara adorning Jack's head.
A couple of handmaidens moved past them with their things as he scooped Jack in for a kiss that would have made the ceremonial one blush, resting his forehead against Jack's after it. His eyes were shining with the utter happiness he felt at not being needed for meetings or consuls, not having to keep himself restrained from touching his husband, his love, his soul mate.
His dad's wedding band matched the one on Jack's finger. Hiccup had made sure of that personally, having hammered it out in the smithy he'd gotten placed in the castle. He'd asked for it from Gobber when his old mentor sent him Grimbeard's sword, wanting to keep his dad close in some way. It was a pity they didn't have his mom's, but it wouldn't have meant the same if he hadn't made Jack's ring himself.]
Now, you want to explore orrrrr should we head straight for the bedroom?
no subject
[Deep down he knows it's impossible, but a man can dream, right? To be honest, if someone is gonna get things harder for, it's Jack. With his new title, lords will probably won't accept him standing as an assistant as usual and try to give him new responsibilities. Of course Jack plans to ignore them and stay where he belongs, but that doesn't make it any less of a pain in the ass.
He has to admit, the tiara feels heavy on his head. But there's no time for those thoughts now, not when Hiccup is sucking his soul out through a delicious kiss. Jack returns it with as much eagerness, the hand behind Hiccup making a gesture for the maidens to leave them alone. Their place, their honeymoon. They aren't idiots that can't cook or make the bed (which isn't gonna need to be mad anyway). Right now, they only need each other.]
Mmmh, anything you want. I only want to spend time with you. [Blue eyes sparkle and lock on green while what started as a loose hold becomes one tight hug.] I wanna be touching at least a hair of that sexy mane of your every. Single. Minute. I wanna get high on you. I don't care how, you can throw us on the and right now and I'll be happy with it.
[It is, of course, the post-wedding bliss. Tomorrow Jack will be an hyperactive kid ready to run through the beach from side to side, but right now he only wants Hiccup.]
no subject
He brings his hand up to take hold of Jack's chin with his thumb and forefinger, trying to absorb his husband like his life depended on it. It did, in more ways than anyone could imagine. The maidens giggle and shut the door behind them, but it goes largely unnoticed by the king macking on the love of his life.
The post-wedding bliss is also something Hiccup is experiencing. Tomorrow he'll be trying very hard not to work from home while on his honeymoon, but all electronics have been taken from them. There'll be no contact with the outside world for a month. He scoops Jack up into his arms again, nestling the white-haired prince's legs around his waist and holding him up by linking his arms into an arm throne.]
Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for this? I was counting down the hours at my desk all through the week. I don't want to stop touching you, not even for a second.
no subject
Jack is about to say something when his chin is grabbed, but it's interrupted by the sudden lift. Once again, he laughs, not having the heart to protest, though he does make a show of rolling his eyes for his king. Skinny legs close tightly around Hiccup's waist and fee get rid of their shoes, hands pinching freckled cheeks and grin only growing wider at the second.]
And you think I haven't? You know how hard it is to jump your bones when you get all sexy and bossy? [Pale fingers move pass those ears to bury on brown hair and pull Hiccup's head a little bit, his mouth quickly attacking the exposed neck with open-mouthed kisses.] Well, dear king of mine, you're wasting seconds now. Let's get going. [The last part is pretty much a purr.]
no subject
He wriggles his nose when his cheeks are pinched, not having the heart to tell Jack to stop it, he's not a kid anymore. Neither of them are. They're not the bright eyed youths that met that day in front of the door to the royal chambers, who felt a connection between each other - one lonely and the other feeling less than confident. In a way, they complimented each other like that.]
You've told me quite a few times that it's hard to resist all...this. [He tilts his head back as commanded, a purr of his own starting to hum in the back of his throat. He's had the whole plane ride to get the alcohol out of his system, so he doesn't stumble on his way to finding the master bedroom.] I was going to start heading that way, you just need to hold your horses.
no subject
Their complementing is what helps them be such a good team on the throne and such a loving couple in private. It almost makes Jack thankful for the shitty childhood he had - otherwise he would've never met North or more importantly, Hiccup. His motherfucking husband. It's still hard to believe, so Jack is gonna behave like a kid if he wants. It's the best way to show how happy he feels..]
Have I? Mmh, well, if it bothers you so much, I can stop, hubbie. [He smiles against Hiccup's neck, giddiness obvious at the fact he can use that word. He kisses his way up to Hiccup's ear and nibbles on it.] Less horses and more riding, come on.
no subject
Hiccup already spoke his piece in the bath when they did the ritual that he was grateful for the lot calling his name, even if he hadn't wanted the kingship. He was grateful for the hard life he'd had growing up that helped him see where the less fortunate people needed him, for the belief his consort gave him without hesitation.
Speaking of...]
Alright, alright. Just...let me...
[Hiccup jostles the doorknob to the master bedroom, pulling one hand away from Jack's arm throne and opening it, shouldering his way inside. The bedroom is lit rather ambiently, candles lining the walls and bedside tables, rose petals scattered all over the floor and bed. He raises an eyebrow but chuckles, pressing a kiss to Jack's cheek and lowering his lover to the floor.]
Looks like someone prepared something for us...whoa wait what the hell...!
no subject
He chuckles along when he takes in the ambiance, internally dying at the mental image of the maids preparing this, and jumps off Hiccup's arms as soon as he feels the lowering. With a hand on his husband's chest, he's leaning in to return the kiss but stops midway, startled by Hiccup's sudden exclamation.]
What's the pro-- holly shit. [Jack can only stare at the figure waiting for them on the bed, one that doesn't belong here. This island is safe, he's sure of it, otherwise they wouldn't have brought the king to it. But then how? This is impossible. And very crazy.] Is that... is that a fucking panther?
no subject
[The panther flicks its tail and doesn't entirely look like it's contemplating on eating them. In fact, when Hiccup flicks on the light to get a clearer look at it, it looks...malnourished, which by all means means it should be attacking them since it'd be hungry as hell. There's a sunken look to its eyes, and when it looks at Hiccup something in him...clicks.
Putting Jack behind him and gesturing for him to stay there, he held one hand out and slowly started approaching the big cat. The panther looked at him with a pain in it's eyes, hackles drawing back in a hiss before his ears flattened against his head, but it doesn't make a move to pounce. If anything, the panther rolls onto its side submissively. Hiccup gets close enough to see a ribbon around it's neck, and when he reaches it and smooths his hand under it's jaw soothingly, he finds a tag and nearly drops it in disgust with a hiss as he reads who it's from.]
It's a wedding gift. From Lord Pitchiner.
[It figured. Hiccup squatted in front of the panther and reached to touch it, taking note of how it flinched before he stroked its head. He looked over his shoulder at Jack, feeling a little helpless.]
He didn't tame it. He broke it.
no subject
[He tries to grab Hiccup and stop him from whatever stupid thing has gotten in his head this time, but it's too late. The king is with the animal now and Jack isn't sure that making abrupt movements would be a good idea, maybe the panther takes it as a sign of attack.
The fact it falls under Hiccup's touching leaves him with his mouth hanging open - Jack's seriously confused right now. Confusion that is replaced with anger when Hiccup finally tells him why the panther is in their room.]
That son of a bitch! I can't believe it-- no, wait, I totally can. A panther. Holly shit.
[Seeing as the animal isn't reacting, Jack reaches for his husband, grabbing his arm and pulling back while hissing himself. He isn't going to let that asshole ruin their honeymoon or hurt his husband, broken panther be damned.]
Stay away from it, Hic, who knows what it's been trained to do. Let's go to a safer room and call security, they'll take care of this.
no subject
He turns his attention towards his husband, placing a hand on the one holding his arm. He's a little wary, but the cat's eyes are enough to convince him it doesn't mean any harm.]
I don't think it's been trained, Jack, it's just been broken and molded into a giant house cat. [He meets blue eyes imploringly.] I know animals, babe. Please...trust me on this.
[His mother had run an animal sanctuary back on Berk before she'd passed away suddenly. Hiccup had used to help her out, before he'd apprenticed in Gobber's smithy. The panther flops down onto its side and rolls over, paws up in the air like a dog and Hiccup can feel his bleeding heart break. His eyes narrowed into a small glare as he clenched his hand around Jack's.]
I can't forgive this. I can't...Pitch isn't going to get away with this.
no subject
I do trust you. I don't trust him.
[And by that he doesn't mean the panther, he means Pitchiner - the hate in Jack's words is obvious to notice even for someone who doesn't know him well. Maybe it's a good thing this didn't happen in the safety of the palace after all, who knows what kind of show Jack would've put in public as a reaction to the asshole's idea of a present.
It's when Hiccup speaks again that he finally turns to look at his husband, frowning hard and pulling the king's arm even harder.]
Of course he isn't. That's why we're getting out of this room and calling security so they can take this... this "gift" away and we can go back to our honeymoon. I'm not letting that fucking bastard ruin it for us.
no subject
But looking at the big cat's eyes, Hiccup wanted nothing less than to strip Pitchiner of his powers and send him somewhere backwater like he threatened to do to Jack's father. Honestly, he had the ability to do it as the king, but he mentally made a note to pass a law against capturing or owning wilder animals than what were already domesticated when they got home. Despite Jack's feelings about the cat, he felt like it hadn't been trained to kill him or cause him harm, and despite the broken look in its eyes, there was a fiery disposition about it.
Hiccup reaches out to run his fingers over the panther's head again, watching the way it butted up eagerly into the petting after it flinched away at first. A loud purr rumbled through the room, and the king sighed a little before turning to his husband to nod with a sad smile.]
Alright, but we're not calling security. I'll take him to a spare room and give him some food. Pitchiner starved the poor thing. Destroying it just because Pitchiner trained it isn't right.
no subject
Seeing as he can't keep Hiccup away from the panther, Jack lets go of him and throws his arms in the air in frustration.]
Who said anything about destroying it? They can take it to a zoo or back to the jungle or whatever! [He looks at Hiccup clearly not believing what's going on.] Come on, Hiccup, it's our honeymoon! We can't spend it taking care of a fucking panther!
[Later he will hate himself for reacting like this - the animal hasn't done anything and it's still ruining their special time together. It's gonna be really hard to stop Jack from punching that asshole next time he sses it. Because dammit.]
no subject
[Hiccup reaches out to rub the panther again, this time over the bridge of his nose and around his head, which the big cat seems to like very much. He knows he's probably sounding like a lunatic, but he really does believe that. With a small roll of his eyes at his husband, he gestures to the cat to follow him and leads him out to the room.
After talking it over with one of the maids still in the house, they find a spare room and he gently tells the panther to stay while placing a slab of meat down on the floor. That taken care of, Hiccup makes his way back to the master bedroom, closing the door behind him with a small sigh before turning to his husband with a sly smile and raising a hand to undo his button up shirt.]
Now that that's been taken care of...where were we?
no subject
[Why does he even bother? Obviously Hiccup isn't listening to him. He can only stare with a very obvious frown as Hiccup completely ignores what he has to say and leaves him behind to take care of that fucking stupid panther.
Like a lunatic sounds about right.
By the time Hiccup comes back, Jack is already undressed. Well, kinda. After rummaging through one of their suitcases and making a mess out of clothes (in what looks like a tantrum), he finally finds what he wants. His bathing suit -which is being worn now- and a towel that ends up on his shoulder as he passes by his husband to leave the room. And the building it seems.]
I'm going swimming, haven't been to the beach in forever.
[Someone has entered their brat mood.]
no subject
Fine! Fine. Do whatever you want.
[With a small huff, he tugs his shirt off over his head, tossing it to the floor. Might as well, it's already a mess. The crown is removed with gentler care and set on his bedside table, his fingers lingering on it before he places his hands on the edges and leans against the table, sighing.
This was their goddamn honeymoon. It was supposed to be romantic, which was why he'd ordered the room to be set out like it was. With a pinch of the bridge of his nose, Hiccup turned around and snagged a towel off the end of the bed, not bothering to find his bathing suit. It was a private island after all. With that, he left the bedroom as well, seeking out his husband.]
no subject
(He's gonna regret that feeling later too.)
What starts like a walk out of their room quickly becomes stomping, and once he's out of the building, he actually runs, anger and hurt fighting inside his head. This isn't how his honeymoon is supposed to go, damn it. He never stops to look around the island, he just throws the towel on the sand and jumps in the water.
A tropical island was chosen because it's the best place for a honeymoon, and him not having been to the beach in forever is a true statement. But right now, Jack can't help missing the cold of the north, to be able to bury himself in the snow and forget the mess around him like he used to do to avoid his dad.
So instead he stays underwater, letting his body float as he stares at the ring on his hand and tries to convince himself this is only Pitch's fault. He only goes back up for air, and when he sees Hiccup approaching him, he hurries to dive in again, still not ready for... whatever this is.]
no subject
Berk being a fishing village meant that Hiccup had learned to swim at a young age, despite being absolutely terrible at it to start with. As expected of a tropical island, the land underneath the waves is just as beautiful as the shore, coral and exotic fishes meeting his gaze as he swims over.
He reaches out to his husband, wrapping his arms around him and holding him close despite any struggles before his hands come up to cup Jack's face and kiss him under the water, breath transferring between them. He puts everything into the kiss, how he feels, his apologies, his love. Everything.]
no subject
Slowly melting in the embrace, the kiss is returned as he wraps his arms around his husband too, clinging tightly to him as if his life depended on it (well, it kinda does to be honest). They don't have too much air to depend on so the kiss is shorter than usual, and when it's done Jack hides his face in Hiccup's neck and just stays there, using the calm freedom of the ocean to pretend the outside world doesn't exist and they can be like this forever.]
no subject
I'm sorry, moon of my life.
no subject
...sorry. [He whispers with his eyes closes, lips still lingering over Hiccup's.] I love you, I really do.
no subject
[The fault is Pitchiner's. He threads his fingers through Jack's hair, resting his forehead against his husband's as they tread water. He presses his lips to Jack's one more time, nuzzling their noses together after. There's so much he wants to say about the situation, but their moods might worsen again, and Hiccup doesn't want that on their honeymoon. He kisses the corner of Jack's mouth, holding him close.]
no subject
He wraps his arms around Hiccup's shoulders as he returns the kisses, sweet movement of his lips with the only intent being comfort and savoring this moment with his now husband, private and intimate even if they're in the open sea.]
...mmmh, don't wanna go back.
