[It's subtle but as the minutes pass, he could sense the air around him grow colder and colder. It could be all in his head, but he feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand and he's confident that he isn't wrong--Jack is here.

Toothless is less attentive than he is, simply giving a yawn as he plops down on his stomach in wait, grumbling something that Hiccup guesses is his complaints about being woken up so early without getting a decent flight, a measly lap around the island obviously not being quite enough of a thrill. Hiccup hushes him though, sending him a pout.]

Relax, bud, just give it a few minutes and--gyaaah!

[There's that sudden cold rush that hits his backside and instantly shoots up his spine in a dramatic shiver. The ultimate proof needed to deem his theories correct.]

Gods, Jack. Really? Can you come up with a nicer hello one of these days? [Even with the shaky tone from the cold, he manages a laugh, turning to capture sight of the winter spirit with squinted eyes.]

[Jack is definitely here. Let the party begin! Or something. It wasn't really much of a party when only one boy and his dragon could see him. He laughs at Hiccup's reaction to the cold creeping up along his spine, his signature fernfrost at work as he saunters out from his hiding spot, sliding down a little slope of earth on a patch of ice. TECHNICALLY doing his job as a winter spirit.]

Well you're the one who had your back turned to me. You've no one to blame but yourself.

[His voice sounds chiding but it's playful at the same time, staff crossed over his shoulders as he walks over to his boy as he feigns haughtyness. Jack gives Toothless a pat on the head between the ears before he comes to a stop in front of Hiccup, raising an eyebrow.]

What kind of hello is that for a friend you haven't seen in two months anyway? You're a terrible host.
